This is a tentative syllabus broken up by week I will be following as closely as I can for at least the fall semester. It’s hard to say exactly what I will be doing in the spring since I don’t have a fully formed thesis yet. If you have any suggestions please leave a reply in the comments section.
Fall Semester
Oct 06: Read Refabricating Architecture and other readings pertaining to my thesis argument. Write up argument.
Oct 13: Research frames others have used and draw up plans for the one that will go in dFab. Draw diagrams for my argument.
Oct 20: Revise argument and drawings based on mid-review feedback.
Oct 27: Begin the process of constructing the frame.
Nov 03: Complete the frame. Hopefully the robots are operational.
Nov 10: Produce tool-head designs and order parts. Install the frame and fabricate tool-heads.
Nov 17: Begin writing computational scripts for use in grasshopper to aid in the generation of tool-paths.
Nov 24: Begin physical testing. Experiment with possible design opportunities utilizing the plasma-cutting robot.
Dec 01: Gather data and write up findings. Produce booklet for final reviews
